Development of Library Building Programs and Library Space Planning

Brewster Ladies' Library entrance (click to enlarge) Space in libraries is perhaps our most expensive and certainly our most permanent resource. Throughout my work in the development of successful library building programs, I pursue the most efficient and attractive use of space.

My process in developing a building program is based on the belief that each library should reflect the needs of its own community. We can work together to clarify the mission your library serves in your community. Together we can clarify your service priorities, and define the space you will need to achieve those goals.

My group process skills and public presentation skills will be an asset to your project. I can bring to your project space configuration formulas that reflect national standards and what has been effective in other settings. For a listing of building projects contact me at cheryl@cherylbryan.com.

Long Range Planning

I have worked with both Planning for Results and general strategic planning methods for over twenty years providing facilitation services for many libraries both large and small. It is a pleasure to see the success that long range planning has created for libraries and professional organizations who develop and utilize their plans. I would be happy to provide you with examples and references of both libraries and organizatinos whose process I have facilitated so you can hear about their successes.

Staff Development

I am available to work with your management team to develop appropriate support systems for staff development or assist with staff training on a variety of topics. For a list of some frequently presented workshops, see workshops. I'd be happy to work with you to develop workshops that address your specific needs.
